Shaken Grid Upgrade Helper Plugin

Posted in: Plugins,WordPress

Apr 23

Hey folks! Some existing users of Shaken Grid (Premium) have expressed that they are having conflicts transitioning to the new theme options panel introduced in version 1.6.0. As a result, we have created a plugin that you can install and activate which will add the old Theme Options panel back to your WordPress sidebar.

You will also notice that there is now a submenu page called “Reset Options”, this is very important. We are releasing this plugin so that you can update your theme to the latest release (1.6.1) and transition your theme options to the new theme options panel (under Appearance → Theme Options). When you’ve made the transition, please go to the “Reset Options” page and click the Reset link. Your new theme options will stay where they are, while the old options page will be cleared out. When you’ve got everything transitioned over, feel free to delete the plugin.

Note: UPGRADE your theme before installing this plugin!

Not Just a Facelift

Posted in: General News

Mar 31

We’ve been working hard putting together the new face of Shaken & Stirred and we’re happy to finally get this out in the wild.  This isn’t just a facelift of our old blog, but something entirely different. We’re now solely focused on creating WordPress themes and resources that cater to our audience.

Value Is Everything

One thing that we want to do is add value to our existing themes, so we’re introducing something we’re very excited about, the Tips & Tricks section. Here we’ll post walkthrough videos, articles, tutorials, and other helpful resources that we believe will be beneficial to you.

Topics will range from:

  • Tips on how to get the most out of our products and WordPress
  • Taking advantage of features that are slightly hidden
  • Adding functionality to our themes
  • Recommendations
  • And whatever else you’d like to see

Looking Forward

This is just the start. We’ve got a lot of ideas for future themes and we’re really excited to get to work on them. Don’t worry, we also have big plans for future updates to our existing themes.

Just to name a few of our plans…

  • A new theme (or two) by Summer
  • Improved (but not bloated) theme options panels
  • More promotions
  • Quality + Quality + Quality
  • HTML5 and Mobile

Follow Us! (No, seriously…follow us.)

We love hearing your ideas and feedback.  You should definitely follow us Twitter (@shakenweb) and sign up for our mailing list so you don’t miss out on what we’re up to and the promotions we plan on running. Now back to work…

Introducing “Easy Docs”

Posted in: WordPress

Mar 07

This one is targeted at a very niche audience — the people who have to write documentation for products. I came across the need for a documentation template awhile ago when I released my first two products (Shaken Grid and Shaken Tumble). I decided to create this WordPress theme to streamline the process and make the task of writing documentation a little less painful.

Features

View the video demo above or the live demo to get a feel for what the theme is capable of. I built the theme to fulfill my requirements, which were very basic; a page for documentation with a simple way to navigate between sections, and a basic page template for simple pages like a Changelog.

My Next WordPress Theme – Shaken Tumble

Posted in: WordPress

Feb 14

Shaken Tumble will be the next theme that I will make available commercially on ThemeGarden, alongside my first theme, Shaken Grid. Shaken Tumble is a tumblog style theme that has similar functionality as Tumblr, allowing you to specify the format of your post (image, video, audio, etc).

Why not just use a Tumblr theme?

One of many reasons is because WordPress can be independently hosted and you’re not stuck on Tumblr’s servers, which have become so well known for crashing all of the time. WordPress also gives you a ton more freedom when it comes to managing your content, as well as its extendability.

When can I get it?

Stay tuned for more news regarding this theme. I plan on releasing it as soon as WordPress 3.1 is released, which should be right around the corner. And if you’re wondering what Shaken Tumble looks like, it’s the same theme I’m using on this blog. For now, check out the video demo above of the options available to you in the back-end of Shaken Tumble.

The new mint color scheme option.

What’s new in 1.2?

  • Two new color schemes (Bumble Bee and Mint)
  • There is now a max-width and max-height set on images opened in the lightbox so that the image will always fit within the browser window with no scrolling.
  • Fixed an issue where the featured images weren’t being added to RSS feeds.
  • Updated Colorbox and Tweets scripts to their latest releases.
  • Officially added size options for the advertisement box on gallery pages.

Shaken Grid Premium – 1.1 Released

Posted in: WordPress

Oct 06

The Shaken Grid premium theme has been updated to version 1.1. With this update some really great features and bug fixes have been added.

To update your theme, please visit the download link that was sent to you when you purchased the theme and re-download it. As always, please backup your website before updating just in case anything goes wrong. Your settings and posts will still be there when you update and I don’t expect you to have any troubles.

What is new in 1.1?

  • Homepage Sidebar – You can now enable a sidebar on gallery pages through the theme options panel and add widgets to it.
  • Custom Backgrounds - Although this option was in the intial release, it has now been changed to use WordPress’s built-in background customization options which allow you to upload an image to use as your background, and gives you even more options to make it exactly how you want.
  • Author Links – Author links have been added to the post information beneath the post tile on single post pages. There is an option to disable this in the theme options panel.
  • Category links can be disabled – The category links that show up on the bottom of post boxes on gallery pages can now be hidden through the theme options panel.
  • Various Bug Fixes – several bugs have been squashed in this release and the jQuery Masonry plug-in has been updated to it’s latest build.
